What is clarifying shampoo?
A clarifying shampoo is a deep-cleansing shampoo designed to lift away the build-up that everyday shampoo can leave behind, such as styling product residue, hard water minerals, chlorine and excess oil. Most people use one alongside their regular shampoo rather than instead of it.
Think of it as a reset. Over a few weeks, waxes, silicones, hairspray and minerals from tap water can coat the hair, so it starts to look dull, feel heavy, and stop holding a style the way it used to. A clarifying wash can help remove that layer, so your conditioner and styling products work as they should again.
